We aim to provide the most accurate, resilient and ready-to market low cost-effective timing node for massive deployment at the 5G networks edge. The solution consists of a small module that combines GNSS modules (Galileo as primary time reference) with timing network protocol as complementary solution. The system will include precise point positioning (PPP) capabilities and augmented satellite methods to reach nanosecond accuracy on the GNSS receivers, making it an ideal method for fulfilling next generation of 5G networks requirements and allowing to correct the asymmetry estimation errors existing on current networks. Time transfer through networked systems will provide an ideal backup technology under jamming or spoofing scenarios without losing accuracy thanks to the use of IEEE-1588-2019 High Accuracy profiles and ITU-T 8275.2 standards. The solution will provide a resilient, cost-effective and Zero Touch Provisioning product. For the latter aim, programmable optical elements, chromatic dispersion compensation techniques and automatic calibration methods will be key to avoid human operations and allow practical and low-cost massive deployments at the edge.
