Make Every Day Earth Day - Sustainable Choices towards Green Lifestyles to Act on Climate Change

Over two and a half decades, systematic EU climate change targets and action plans have led to significant emission reductions, and EU has put forward a plan to further cut emissions by at least 55% by 2030. To achieve this goal, the active role of citizens and their direct involvement is essential to address climate change and to improve the environmental quality. However, human behavior is complex and bottom-up approaches by changing human behavior and their lifestyles to act on climate change is not easy. But now, due to recent advances in the development of technological-social innovations, social-economic movements, and grassroots experiments, the potential for a paradigm shift within bottom-up approaches at individual levels are strong, opening up new avenues and fostering acceptability of sustainable solutions. GreenCHOICE will develop, demonstrate and use the innovative Citizen-driven platform that enables citizens and stakeholders to actively act on climate change. With the involvement of various actors and through the experiences of 5 pilots in 5 European cities using GreenCHoice platform, we will design a work plan that can guarantee the long-term exploitation of the GreenCHOICE platform. The use of the innovative Citizen-driven platform will drive the daily decision-making of citizens towards green lifestyles, to make Every Day Earth Day, reducing their carbon and environmental footprint, contributing to Green Deal goals and SDGs. GreenCHOICE platform, a long-term and natural enabler for citizen science activities, provides: 1) a concrete and trusted user-friendly APP for citizens to enable them to act on climate change; 2) a suite of action effect models to quantify citizen behaviour/activities/practices to emissions; and 3) Behavioural Intelligence for citizens science activities to provide better understanding, monitoring and evaluating the impact of individual footprint; 4) A strategy to spread the GreenCHOICE platform to the wider community.
