Tildelt: kr 0,90 mill.

The Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) has been established to ensure both a focused development of battery technology to meet current demands with regard to economy, sustainability and circularity, and the timely and effective up-take of these technology developments by the industry. The partnership aims to identified and implement a coherent strategic R&I agenda through mobilising resources and commitments from industry, research and other organisations with the support of MSs. The BEPA was launched in December 2020 with a general assembly of an initial 130 members, including battery producers, automotive and aviation manufacturers, materials producers, and research providers. Dr. Edel Sheridan from SINTEF Energy was voted as one of 2 representatives from the research sector to the Executive Board, which will be a role held for a duration of 3 years. The goals of the BEPA will be achieved by addressing actions including: 1. providing recommendations for calls for proposals supported within the specific parts of Horizon Europe Pillar II work programme related to batteries. 2. supporting and overseeing the portfolio of projects funded under the Partnership work programme and to participate to the sharing of information on research project results. 3. supporting the development of regulations and standards, safety aspects, including engaging with regulatory bodies. 4. encouraging a robust lab-to-market process and lay the foundations for a sound and well-balanced innovation and technology transfer mechanism, via strong connections with EIT InnoEnergy and EIT Raw Materials. 5. ensuring that the activities performed at the European level and the outcomes of EU-funded research are widely disseminated and exploited. 6. actively promoting and monitoring innovation uptake in the market. This will be done notably by active coordination and exchange of information with other funding programmes, such as Cohesion policy funds, IPCEI, InvestEU, EIB.
