Sustainable Materials for the Battery Value Chain (SUMBAT) KSP

"SUMBAT-KSP" prosjektet har som mål å styrke eksisterende batteriaktiviteter og bygge opp ny kompetanse innen institutt og universitetssektoren for å støtte opp under den voksende norske batteriindustrien. Med materialfokus og i samarbeid med de mest sentralene aktørene i Norge dekker prosjektet hele verdikjeden for batterier, fra bærekraftig innhenting av råmaterialer og utvikling av aktive batterimaterialer, via utvikling av teknologier og produksjonsprosesser for battericeller, til gjenbruk og gjenvinning av batterier. "SUMBAT KSP" vil støtte opp under "SUMBAT hovedprosjektet" (og tilhørende delprosjekter ledet av industripartnerne) med forankring i FoU. Prosjektet vil fasilitere fremtidig produksjon av batterimaterialer, celler og systemer som en bærekraftig norsk eksportindustri, og dermed bidra til etablering av nye arbeidsplasser knyttet til den grønne omstillingen. Ved å styrke samarbeidet til det norske FoU miljøet på batterier vil prosjektet hjelpe norske aktører med å øke deres konkurranseevne på det internasjonale markedet.

The focus in the project is to strengthen existing battery activities and build up new competence within the institutes and universities to support the growing Norwegian battery industry. With a focus on materials, and in collaboration with the most central Norwegian stakeholders, the project covers the whole battery value chain, from sustainable sourcing of raw materials, development of battery active materials, via development of technologies and production processes for battery cells, to recycling and reuse of batteries. Supporting the "SUMBAT Main project" and rooted in R&D, "SUMBAT KSP" will facilitate the future production of battery materials, cells and systems as a sustainable Norwegian export industry, and hence contribute to the generation of new, green jobs. By strengthening the collaboration and cooperation in the national battery R&D community, the project will help Norwegian stakeholders to become internationally competitive.
