The overall vision of the VITRO.SCALE Accelerator project is to prototype, pilot and commercialise our novel patent pending flow chamber device (PCT/EP2018/061604), imaging system (for capturing cell images) and a software system (for capturing and processing data). Flow chamber is based on fluid dynamic wall effects: By exposing cells grown on a glass slide to a constant flow of cell culture medium, the cells experience a ‘pull’ from the liquid, resulting in a shear stress rate depending on the flow rate (that can be pulsatile or steady) of the cell culture medium. This approach ensures a constant, homogeneous level of shear stress across all cells in the flow chamber. An integrated passively controlled valve system makes it possible to load / unload flow chambers in the microscopy room without risking any leakage and in under 10 s time. The amount of necessary equipment and setup time are reduced by 50% and 90%, respectively, when compared to common approaches. The live imaging option allows for immediate data analysis, further saving precious research time. Our Vitro One technology has a major market potential compared to current state-of-the-art technologies. To increase our commercial success and impact, we have created a Strategic Business Plan, as a detailed roadmap, describing all necessary activities we need to undertake to ensure a successful market introduction. Now, we seek to develop our Commercialisation Plan (CP), which will form an important part of the final Business Innovation Plan (BIP), to be created in this Accelerator project. As the envisaged Accelerator project builds upon a validated prototype technology, most of our efforts will be focused on piloting and commercialisation activities.
