Route optimization integrating low-carbon technologies

Alternativ tittel: Ruteoptimering med lav-utslippsteknologi

Tildelt: kr 5,0 mill.

EcoRouter combines zero-emission ship technology, state-of-the-art ship models and routing. EcoRouter will ensure that emerging green technologies are used optimally, by linking expertise and models from ship systems' suppliers to the ship operators' daily planning activities through state-of-the-art simulation and optimization technology. The project will facilitate state-of-the-art development and operation of maritime transport by integrated and multidisciplinary modelling of future zero-emission technology, custom made route optimization and detailed ship modelling. The objective of the project partners is to enable and maximise the potential of propulsion and zero-emission technologies on board. Increasing vessel operators' competence and capacity to analyse new concepts will ensure efficient use of new propulsion and power technologies (e.g., sails, batteries, hydrogen) in operation and allow planning specifically tailored to each operator's requirements. Using a numerical simulation model of a particular vessel developed to capture the properties and dynamics of the hull and propulsor, power plant details and new green technology such as wind, and wave assisted propulsion as basis for the route optimization will allow new green technology to perform at a high degree already from ship commissioning The main innovation in the project is a cross disciplinary numerical simulation model integrating properties and dynamics of the hull and propulsor, power plant details and new green technology such as wind, and wave assisted propulsion as basis for the route optimization for a particular vessel model.
