Global Sustainability: Science and Religion in Dialogue

Tildelt: kr 99 999

The conference "Global Sustainability: Science and Religion in Dialogue" (ECSTXIX) takes place in Ålesund, Norway in May 2022. ECSTXIX brings science, humanities, social science, ethics and theology into interdisciplinary dialogue about questions of sustainability and about how religions, being a primary resource of values in any culture, might contribute to this task. The main activity for ESSSAT, which is a non-profit academic society, is the European Conference in Science and Theology (ECST). ECST has been arranged biennial since the 80s in major European cities. This is the first time ECST will be arranged in Norway. The conference will attract around 150 participants from all over the world. There will be five plenary speakers, and around 110 short papers presentations, as well as panel discussions. At ECSTXIX, scholars from a variety of academic fields, will meet for networking, present papers as well as schedule publications in high-ranking international journals and books. ECSTXIX creates a flourishing meeting place for academic scholars as well as others with interest in the topic, such as policy makers, organizations, and practitioners. In addition to the formal academic program, the conference offers meeting points for networking and social interaction. The conference emphasizes a moderate budget and being a sustainable arrangement in all parts. ECSTXIX is a joint conference with Volda University College, NTNU Ålesund, Molde University College, and ESSSAT (European Society for the Study of Science and Theology). With support from the regional institutions as well as support from others, it is possible to arrange this conference in Norway.
