Biogas has the potential to reduce global GHG emissions by 10% and replace >20% of natural gas production. However, innovation has been stagnant in the field over the last 10 years allowing the market to be dominated by bioreactors that require large spaces and high retention time with low bacterial density. In Antec, we developed a plug-flow biofilm solution that offers a unique value proposition by replicating the natural process of digestion to tap into the global biogas potential. Our novel and proprietary bioreactor drastically reduces biogas production costs, supplies gas 5 times faster and is 68% more efficient than traditional plants. BIOPLAN's anaerobic digestion process takes place in modular glass fiber tanks that require very little maintenance while offering scalability. By installing BIOPLAN, our customers can take advantage of the AI-based control and monitoring system that optimizes the substrate mix and allows for remote control of the plant. Antec has developed a bioreactor design that enables to increase the interaction between anaerobic bacteria and organic materials via a patented biofilm method that replicates the natural process of biomass digestion. Our bioreactor is divided in specialized chambers for each step of the anaerobic digestion providing optimal conditions and large internal surfaces for natural biofilm growth with extremely high bacterial density. Inside the bioreactor, organic materials are hydrolyzed, acid is generated and then fed to the last chambers where the biogas production occurs (60GWh/year/10 bioreactors for a mixed substrate). This way, our re-engineered Anaerobic Digestion process feeds an extremely dense and active biofilm surface that takes place in small (105m3) and modular bioreactors. These can be installed in any industrial setting, decreasing the levelized cost of energy (from 70-90 to 29-42 €/MWh) and maintenance cost (from 1.3M to 0.7M/year), while increasing output by 68% compared to the existing solutions.
