Arctic Frontiers Emerging Leaders 2022

Tildelt: kr 34 999

Emerging Leaders is an early-career and mentoring program in the Arctic for young professionals from the academic, industry and policy sector. The program brings together leaders and mentors, and indigenous, business, and policy representatives, to tell the Arctic stories in an educational journey through Northern Norway. Through training, educational and cultural activities, and the contributions of competent and committed partners, the Emerging Leaders program serves as an international and cross-cultural platform for dialogue and exchange to support the arctic leaders of the future. My research as a post-doc intends to validate high-throughput DNA-based approaches for marine benthic monitoring, specifically for oil and gas extraction sites. I also work in close collaboration with industry and policy stakeholders, to bridge the gap between science and management. I am convinced that sustainable development can only be implemented through the integration of science, social (including indigenous), and industrial stakeholder perspectives, and therefore find that the Emerging Leaders program is an exceptional opportunity for initiating dialogue to support Arctic development in a changing world. On a personal level, my experience with the Arctic being limited, this program also represents a unique chance for me to “learn the Arctic stories” in a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural way.
