15th International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX 2023)

QoMEX (https://qomex2023.itec.aau.at/) is an international conference that focuses on topics related to human experiences with a wide variety of multimedia applications (e.g. video conferencing, Virtual Reality and other forms of immersive experiences, video streaming, …). More specifically, the focus is, among other things, on how the use of such applications are perceived by users, which aspects influence human perception and how such insights can be used to improve user experiences and develop better ICT-based applications and services. This conference is now in its 15th edition and in 2023, the organization is in the hands of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, and Ghent University, Belgium. The conference is technically co-sponsored by IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization for innovative technologies. QoMEX brings together a global community of (100 to 150) researchers from the academic and business world together for presentations of state-of-the-art research, expert panels, workshops, tutorials and demos. It is the 1st time in its history that QoMEX will be organized by female general chairs. The theme of this edition, taking place in Ghent, Belgium, is “Towards sustainable and inclusive multimedia experiences”, with the ambition to put sustainability thinking and inclusivity more firmly on the scientific agenda in research into multimedia experiences and other ICT-based experiences of the future. For example, how can the growing climate footprint of multimedia applications and services be reduced without affecting the quality of users' experiences? How can we ensure that the multimedia applications of the future can benefit everyone and meet the needs of diverse groups and users? At the same time, we also have the ambition to organize an event as the first climate-neutral QoMEX ever. As a result, sustainability will be a key concern throughout the event and preparation.
