Here is the ACTUS project focus if we do get to be a part of this EDF project:
The primary project focus is protecting the thrust propeller and providing robust ice detection that can also
provide control of the existing heated pitot tube of the aircraft. These capabilities will allow the aircraft to
take off in conditions where icing is a risk and safely exit icing clouds if inadvertently encountered.
An optional second project package is also presented, revolving around designing and equipping the LOTUS
with airframe ice protection. This will include equipping wings with D•ICE and any engine inlet. The added
capabilities from this project package will allow sustained flight in icing conditions and could, in time, also
provide the technological basis for the certification of the UAS of flight into known icing (FIKI).
