Eurostars PES: AI-powered sports technique analysis

The partners, Sport AI (NO) and Amfitech ApS (DK), will deliver an AI-powered software solution to democratize sports science and provide objective data-driven technique analysis. Valuable data-driven insights will be provided to broadcasters, sports equipment OEMs, and players/coaches. Scalability and flexibility between sports and settings have a particular focus. We will start with racket sports but open for additional activities (e.g., golf) and use-cases such as physiotherapy/rehabilitation - emphasizing optimal kinetic chain and proper form. The project takes on the ambitious task of understanding “the coach's brain” and what it takes to quantify good technique by capturing high-quality personalized biometric data, using a next-gen electromagnetic field tracking system and sensor-fusion, and training AI (computer vision and machine learning) to interpret and analyze sports technique with precision and immediacy. Close alignment between data scientists and leading authorities on biomechanics and sports domain know-how provides for a multi-professional and holistic approach. Starting from a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 4 based on existing developments, our ambition is to reach TRL 6/7 during the project period for a combined approach. A business development effort will take place in parallel, anchoring the overall upscaling and commercialization journey.
