Incorporation of the Norwegian process industries’ research and innovation strategies in the 10th Framework Program

This application will support the coordination and participation of the Norwegian process industry in the current European public-private partnership (cPPP) "Processes4Planet" (P4Planet) and the upcoming strategic activities to include a similar partnership within the 10th Framework Program (FP10) that will start in 2028. The coordination activities will align P4Planet activities with the strategic national Norwegian initiatives Prosess21, the two major industrial parts in Norway, Herøya Industry Park and Mo Industry Park (as represented the Arctic Cluster Team) and the circularity hubs in western Norway, as represented by Grøn region Vestland. P4Planet has established a strong position within Horizon Europe (HEu). With the approaching end of HEu, P4Planet has just started a process to secure a similar Parntership in FP10. However, with the recent Draghi and Heitor reports mainly influencing the political strategies for FP 10, inclusion of a "P4Planet-like" partnership is not a foregone conclusion. Thus, two position documents, a Vision Document and a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda will be developed and written between now and the end of 2027, to ensure a process industries partnership in FP10. Norwegian representatives hold key positions within P4Planet, with 2 seats on the Board of Directors, a Vice-Chair position on the Advisory and Programming Group (APG) and two other positions on the APG. Norwegian representatives lead one and participate in seven of the nine Permanent Working Groups that will be responsible for the technical content of the upcoming strategy documents. Strategic national cooperation involving the activities in P4Planet and the aforementioned project partners will ensure that the strategic interests of the Norwegian process industry are included on a European level and that the research and innovation agendas of the Norwegian process industries are included in the framework documents of a process industries Partnership in FP10.
