Japan - Nanostructured and ceramic materials for energy applications - Bilaterial collaboration between NTNU and Japan

Awarded: NOK 39,972

The development of new synthesis routes for ceramic nanoparticles and powders, thin films, nanocrystalline and ceramic materials with a designed microstructure are of great importance for the application of this kind of materials in e.g. high temperature fuel cells with proton or oxygen ion conductors and dense ceramic membranes for separation of gases or partial oxidation of oxygen. Such developments are multidisciplinary and challenging and hence call for an international collaboration. NTNU has for man y years had the international strategy to strengthening the collaboration with Japanese institutions and the applicant is the chairman for inorganic materials in the KIFEE collaboration between NTNU and universities in the Kyoto region. The present applic ation therefore focuses on strengthening newly established Japanese contacts at Osaka Prefecture University (Group of Professor Tatsumisago) and Kyoto University (Ass. Professor Koji Amezawa) in the field of inorganic materials, and further to develop thi s collaboration into concrete common research projects.
