Basing on the scientific background, we plan to propose the development of the inverse modelling, i.e. recovery of variability and trends, of the CH4 emission sources in the Arctic. The project will have three major components: (A) consistent and complete database accounting for both the concentration and the simultaneous meteorological state of the atmosphere within and above the PBL; (B) turbulence-resolving modelling to obtain the turbulent fluxes of CH4 under given meteorological conditions and for (u n)known distribution of sources; (C) aggregation of the fluxes on climate time scales with the climate model
