Canada - Bilateral cooperation in fuel cell development

Awarded: NOK 0.15 mill.

Hydrogen technology is defined as an area of strategic interest to SINTEF. Development of fuel cell and electrolysis technology are areas of research which are natural parts of this targeted area. Development of low temperature fuel cells is one of the co re activities within the group of energy conversion, and establishing cooperation with one of the leading institutions in the field of fuel cells is clearly highly prioritized. Initial contact has been established between the Energy conversion group at SI NTEF and the Queens- RMC Fuel Cell Research Centre in Canada, and the following areas have been identified as areas of common interest and complementary competence: I. Fuel cell modelling, II: Alkaline fuel cells and III: Thermal effects in PEM fuel cells . A strengthening of collaboration in these areas is of mutual interest for both institutions. This project will contribute to establish cooperation strategies on scientific work, to identify possibilities for financial support for joint projects and to p repare proposal(s).
