24th International Carbohydrate Symposium, Oslo 2008

The carbohydrate symposias are the main scientific meeting that is arranged within the field of carbohydrate chemistry world wide. The normal amount of participants varies between 500 and 1000. The International Carbohydrate Organisation determines where the biannual conference should be held, and this important conference has never been held in Norway before. It is a great honour for the carbohydrate society in Norway to be allowed to host this conference. All available information of today can be found on the website of the meeting which is: http://www.farmasi.uio.no/ics2008/ The meeting will be held on the campus of University of Oslo, and the university has as it can be seen from the budget sponsored the conference. The Town hall has also granted us a reception on one of the evenings. The scientific part of the meeting is focussing on the chemistry of carbohydrates, both low molecular and high molecular ones. This meeting is the largest where synthetic carbohydrate chemists meet, and normally half of the posters are within the pure synthetic area.
