CLIMIT-Forskning, utvikling og demo av CO2-håndtering

SOLVit SP4 Educational Programme

Awarded: NOK 26.4 mill.

-

The SOLVit project is aimed at developing functional Post Combustion systems through solvent development and process optimisation, enabling breakthrough technology in terms of reducing the costs for CO2 capture. At the same time the focus on reducing the environmental impact from absorption technology will be strong. SOLVit will be co-ordinated by Aker Clean Carbon. The research activities will be managed and performed by the group for CO2 Capture Processes at SINTEF Materials and Chemistry jointly with Aker Clean Carbon and NTNU, Department of Chemical Engineering. The project implies a consolidation of competence accumulated through more than 20 years of experience in research on absorption processes. The project will cover a multi-scale approach to absorption technology development by focusing on fundamental chemistry through bench scale testing and model development, going further to pilot testing and to demonstration scale. A strong focus on technology deployment is established through the active involvement from Aker Clean Carbon, with a declaration of being an international leading supplier of large scale post combustion plants. The total project period of 8 years will be divided in three phases, with critical reviews after each phase. The pr esent project description covers the whole project, but with detailed plans only for Phase 1. The budget for Phase 1 is 113 MNOK for 32 months. Start-up date is as early as possible, tentatively set to May 1st 2008.
