FlexShuttle - Direct Shuttle and Loading

Awarded: NOK 3.1 mill.

Project Manager:

Project Number:

200842

Project Period:

2010 - 2012

Location:

The project goals are to develop and verify Direct Shuttle Loading with the FlexShuttle subject to the following Key Performance Indicators (KPI): - Safety should be equal to or better than existing state of the art Dynamic Positioning (DP) offloading ope rations with reduced risk for collision by the introduction of Direct Shuttle Loading by use of a stern offloading concept with a highly maneuverable vessel. - Cost in offshore field development should be significantly reduced by direct loading as the conventional loading infrastructure located some distance away from the production and storage unit is avoided. This is particularly important for marginal offshore fields. - Profitability should be improved by increased uptime of the offloading system a nd the increased weather window of the FlexShuttle. - Environment: A modern power, automation, DP and propulsion system should reduce fuel consumption and thereby gas emissions compared to traditional shuttle tankers. Reduced risk for collision and reduce d complexity in the offloading system should lead to reduced risk for oil spills and consequential harm to the environment. A surface based loading system will ensure continuous inspection, as well as easy access for maintenance and repair.
