RCO2 is a Norwegian R&D company established in 2006. We analyze and develop ideas in an efficient and structured manner and aim to efficiently develop them towards commercialization. Currently we are focusing our efforts into environmental technologies ai ming to reduce emissions from combustion processes. We are now in the starting phase of a new project aiming to reduce NOx emissions. Our process is based on conventional SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology, but with a different catalyst, a dif ferent reduction medium (no use of Urea or Ammonia), lower operational cost and a much greener environmental profile. The working title of this project is Zero Urea, which means that we are not using Urea or Ammonia-based reduction media in our process (both with a significant GHG effect on a lifecycle analysis). Our reduction medium is generated from a renewable product easily available on the market. In cooperation with SINTEF we have developed several types of catalyst that are giving high NOx conve rsion and low N2O selectivity in our SCR process. As our initial results are promising, we need to further develop our catalysts to maintain high stability and high conversion over longer periods of operation, where sulfur seems to be a major poisoning ag ent.
