Project Period:

2013 - 2014

Location:

Fishbones stimulation system is an open hole liner completion that connects the well and the reservoir through a drilling or a jetting process. Numerous laterals are created simultaneously in a short pumping operation. The overall objective for the Fi shbones Consolidated Chalk Project is to achieve a successful installaiton in a pilot well. On April 3rd of 2014 a Fishbones stimulation/ completion system was installed in the Enervest CB Jones #2 well. An acid job was pumped to jet the needles into the Austin Chalk formation and surface indications showed deployment of the needles and a substantial stimulation effect. This well installation is a world record for 60 laterals created from a mother wellbore. The secondary objectives were to complet e the following development projects prior to the pilot well installation: Screen for formation particles, positive identification of needles extention, construct new lab test unit, method for fishing needles and a lock in position system for the anchor. The following achievements were made for the entire Project: - Fishbones has proven that lab jetting testing results can be used for planning of estimated rate of penetration and associated fluids volume for the well - Fishbones has proven that th e equipment can be safely and practically installed in a well, at an acceptable operational risk level - Fishbones has proven that the liner may be rotated while getting the completions to TD. The string was rotated in excess of 10 hours during installat ion. - The Fishbones subs were run and installed as per plan, with no major issues. - Fishbones mechanical integrity was confirmed - Full (12m) deployment of the Fishbones needles was confirmed from pressure chart reading - Fishbones positive identifi cation method was confirmed working, again with evidence from the pumping pressure chart readings - Proven capability of penetrating hard formations with porosity of +/-5%. - Proven functionality in pressure depleted reservoir. - The Backbone anchor wa s set and locked in as per plan - The acid releasable shoe closed as per plan - The tool for fishing needles was not used on this well, but the tool had already passed success criteria in the lab.
