Preventing the degradation of cultural heritage artefacts

The MEMORI INC. project will verify the results of research developed through 3 previous and 1 current EU project focusing on the impact of air quality on cultural heritage artefacts. Ideas, knowledge and technology developed in the EU funded MASTER, Pro Paint and AMECP have been combined within the recently completed EU funded MEMORI project which integrated this information to provide a new and much needed solution to the cultural heritage market. The EU funded MEMORI project ended in October 2013 with a large event in Madrid highlighting the knowledge which has been gained on the impact of air quality on objects and demonstrate the scientific prototype of the solution to over 200 guests from across Europe. This verification project will take the scien tific prototype to a truly commercial solution which is planned to be promoted and sold through a new company which may be established during the project period. The technology will be updated to make it simple and easy to operate. An updated web applicat ion and interface will be created including a stable database structure for new information and future solutions. With over 55,000 museums worldwide plus archives and libraries this market, though niche, is significant and with leading conservation organ izations/museums as part of the project a truly user friendly and relevant solution will be delivered.
