Skybasert tjeneste for simulering av industriell sveising basert på unike og avanserte modeller fra Institutt for Energiteknikk (IFE)

Alternative title: Cloud bases welding simulation software for industial welding based on unique mathematical models from Institutt for Energiteknikk (IFE)

Awarded: NOK 4.6 mill.

Welding is an extremely fundamental in the process of making all types of metal constructions. If not executed correctly it may cause major accidents, huge cost and consequences for society. The Alexander Kielland accident is one of many examples resulting from improper welding. Welding is a process with many variables and high degree of complexity with many different geometries, thicknesses, angles and types of metals. Industries are often using many prototype iterations to test a welding procedure which is time consuming and expensive. Computer simulation is a very affordable and efficient alternative which can be used to increase the quality of critical parts of the welding process. It is certainly a need for a user friendly simulation software which can help welders in all industries. Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) has during the last 15 years done a lot of simulation assignments for various industries. Throughout this work IFE has developed a software (WeldSim) which consists of unique mathematical models for simulation of the welding process. IFE, Kjeller Innovasjon and Teknologisk institutt will use WeldSim as a starting point to create an extremely user friendly welding simulation application which can be used by welders on a global basis.
