MAINTSYS Simulation of Operation and Maintenance - Offshore Operations

Alternative title: MAINTSYS Simulering av drift og vedlikehold - Offshore operasjoner

Awarded: NOK 3.3 mill.

Looking into the future and judging how large and complex production facilities will perform have always been a challenge. However, with the development and introduction of the web based simulation software MAINTSYS by Shoreline AS, developers of offshore production assets such as offshore wind parks now have a window into the future that will aid them in simulating, analysing and optimizing the entire value chain from early asset development to the decommissioning phase. MAINTSYS is a tool engineers can use to investigate resource requirements (e.g. number and type of vessels), work processes, technology, and maintenance policies, estimate operational expenditures (OPEX) and evaluate service contracts throughout the lifetime of the production asset. Through detailed discussions with leading offshore wind developers, it has become apparent that no similar tool exists in the marketplace today, and the willingness from the industry to purchase and implement MAINTSYS is significant. Statoil and Fred. Olsen Windcarrier has agreed to become industrial partners, and support Shoreline throughout the verification project. MAINTSYS has been developed as part of a PhD project at the University of Stavanger, the Norwegian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (NORCOWE) and in close corporation with Statoil. MAINTSYS has been developed and tested through marine logistic studies of several offshore wind farms, studies commissioned by Statoil
