Awarded: NOK 20,000

Conference: Energy and Commodity Finance Conference Location: Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford Date: June 14 and 15, 2017 Organizers: Álvaro Cartea (University of Oxford), Roncoroni (ESSEC Business School Paris), Sjur Westgaard (NTNU). My role was to organize sessions and call for papers / special issue Journal of Commodity Markets Elsevier where I am one of the editors. Description: The Energy and Commodity Finance Conference 2017 follows in the footsteps of a long standing series of meetings. Our first workshop was held in London in 2004, and after that we expanded the scope and held yearly conferences in different locations across Europe. In 2015 it was held in Oslo with 60000kr in support from the Norwegian Financial Market Fund. Nowadays, the Energy and Commodity Finance Conference is the benchmark meeting for academics who work in this area. The conference will cover all functional areas of energy finance and commodity finance, including: trading, risk measurement and management, physical operation management, market analysis, investment financing, asset management, contract securitization, derivative structuring, asset valuation, quantitative financial modelling, data analysis, and econometrics. Unique to this conference is the blend of different academic communities that work in this area. Although the subject matter is the same, the approach of financial mathematicians, economists, statisticians, and others is quite distinct. This conference will provide a bridge across these approaches, so academics can interact and benefit from different views on the field and research topics. Moreover, the conference will endeavour to engage practitioners in the field to draw attention to relevant problems and increase the visibility of the academic research. Detailed information about the conference is found here: https://sites.google.com/a/essec.edu/ecomfin-2017/ so you have an idea of the depth and breadth of topics. There were around 150 delegates which is a mix of academics
