Vision People Detection

Today the drill floor is an open area where personnel can enter at any time through one or more access areas. The drill floor is one of the most dangerous places on drilling rigs and initiatives to increase safety are important. There is no strict control over who can enter and exit, only a verbal acknowledgment through radio communication between the operator and personnel. The purpose of the project is to develop a holistic system which detects people in machine operating zones. The project came a long way in this development, but further development is a necessity before the system can be commercialized as an information system for detecting people on drill floor. Further development will focus on increased reliability and accuracy, as well as develop a good HMI user interface. The Official commercialization plan for the system is Q1 2020.

NOV har gjennom dette forskningsrådprosjektet tilegnet seg mye kunnskap generelt innenfor softwaere utvikling for computer Vision. Dette er kunnskap som styrker NOV sin totale kompetanse innenfor Vision teknologien. NOV vil vidreutvikle delresultatet i dette prosjektet gjennom et nytt igangstartet internt prosjekt fram til å bli et komplett salgbart produkt.
