Medsensio - platform for automatic analysis of lung sounds, using deep learning

Medsensio is a company that brings practical AI into the world of healthcare. The company was founded in 2017 and started working on AI for analysis of lung sounds. After completing the lung sound analysis algorithm we quickly realized that we could not rely on the market to build AI-compatible platforms. Therefore, we decided to build our own end-to-end platform for patient monitoring with integrated AI, targeting clinical applications in the cardiorespiratory area, especially chronic conditions like COPD and heart failure. By managing the whole pipeline of data collection, storage, presentation, and further integration into external healthcare IT systems we are able to create solutions using cutting edge technology without compromise. The aim with the solution is to support a more patient-centered care, contributing to improved care outcomes, lower cost and more efficiently allocated resources. When working in a highly regulated medical device industry, achieving regulatory compliance for the product is an important milestone on the go-to-market path. As this is typically a costly and time-consuming phase, this project was planned to minimize the risks and build up our company's assets, expertise and partnership network to support in raising additional funds for pursuing the product certification in full. Throughout the project the team has aligned our product, market, regulatory strategies and plans and has successfully met these additional funding targets, achieving both primary and secondary project objectives.

The project has become an important cornerstone on Medsensio's go-to-market path. It has helped the company to build up competence and expertise in innovation realization through health technology development, networking, building up market and industry understanding, IPR, regulations and regulatory strategies, project management, team growth, fundraising etc. It has also played a crucial role in company-building, supporting establishment of internal business processes and routines as well as ensuring availability of financial and human resources for company development and growth. The project has brought us closer in commercializing our end-to-end platform for patient monitoring with integrated AI which will be to the benefit of healthcare providers, their personnel, patients and society as a whole. Apart from that, it has induced new R&D collaborations, knowledge and expertise exchange with public healthcare sector, industry, startup community, TTOs and university sector.
