In an era driven by digital transformation, the landscape of workplace learning is poised for a remarkable evolution. Today, we introduce a project at the forefront of this transformation, one that promises to redefine how we acquire and apply knowledge in professional settings. Decoding the Efficacy of 70:20:10 Our primary objective embarks on a comprehensive exploration of the 70:20:10 framework for learning. This framework, embraced by organizations globally, delineates learning into three domains: 10% formal learning, 20% learning from peers, mentors, and others, and a substantial 70% on-the-job learning. The challenge at hand is to investigate the true efficacy of this framework. Does it genuinely facilitate workplace learning? Can it effectively induce behavioral transformation? Does it yield tangible improvements in organizational outcomes? These are the pivotal inquiries propelling our research. The Synergy of Simulated Practice Our secondary objective is to embark on an exploration of simulated practice. Here, we employ cutting-edge virtual gaming technology and harness the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) to augment the learning experience. The Promise: Our conviction lies in the notion that virtual reality (VR) can provide a secure, simulated environment contributing to practical skill development. AI, as a mentor, continuously assesses progress, offering personalized guidance. Transforming Learning & Behaviors Our overarching vision aspires to redefine the paradigm of workplace learning. Our objectives encompass: Fostering a workforce adept at confidently applying newly acquired skills, thereby securing enhanced productivity and professional fulfillment. Enabling organizations to navigate between knowledge acquisition and its practical application, thereby obtaining profound behavioral change. Picturing a future where learning is not a mundane obligation but an exciting journey, changing preconceived limits.

Investing in Learning and Development (L&D) typically involves classroom courses or digital methods like e-learning or digital classrooms. However, these interventions often fail to bridge the gap between knowledge and real-life application. Many organizations focus primarily on formal learning, neglecting the other three learning arenas: learning through others, learning through practice, and on-the-job learning. This study argues that a sole emphasis on formal learning cannot drive behavior change effectively. Instead, combining the different learning arenas is crucial for achieving behavior change and business impact. While the 70:20:10 framework has gained popularity for its focus on formal courses (10), learning through others (20), and on-the-job learning (70), it is essential to integrate all three arenas to maximize organizational impact. However, the 70:20:10 model has a limitation regarding the learning arena of practice. Bridging the gap between learning and real-life application is challenging. Here, technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) play a vital role in driving behavior change and enhancing organizational outcomes for L&D initiatives. VR enables immersive, safe practice in simulated environments that closely resemble real-life dilemmas. AI can capture data from VR practice, as well as other relevant business data, combining these datasets to offer new insights and document behavior change. Ultimately, these technologies contribute to enhanced organizational outcomes, ensuring the effective utilization of time and resources invested in L&D initiatives.
