Aim of the project is to evaluate a novel in-vitro model for screening of passive diffusion of drugs through epithelia, on first instance the intestinal epithelium. To establisli and test a vesicular phospholipid gel (liposome)-based drug permeability mod el. To measure the permeation rate of drug compounds through phospholipid bilayer membrane barriers. To compare such permeability data with those of established in-vitro approaches (Caco-2 cell culture, PAMPA) as well as in-situ models in terms of predict ability of peroral absorption. To investigate if such VPG-model could be employed forhigh-throughput screening of potential new drug candidates.
