ADPO - personalized and ADaptive POrtal Framework

Personalization shifts the balance of power between an application and its users, empowering users to customize their environment according to their interests or needs rather than what the application dictates. It spawns a new paradigm in which the user is in control of his environment and the way information is presented or content is consumed across platforms or devices. The project proposes an architecture for service personalisation and composition based on the XML Web service concept. Web services a re gaining more and more momentum and are currently supported by major players like Microsoft, IBM, BEA, HP, etc. The project will develop a ubiquitous and dynamic user profile, a framework for dynamic and personalized portal and an open framework for ser vice composition. To promote the development of services by third parties, tools and environments will be integrated. A prototype for service personalization and composition will be develop for proof-of-concept. To ensure commercial exploitation of the i nnovation, business models and business implementation roadmap will also be elaborated.
