DeHiGate - Deployable High capacity Gateway for emergency services. Mobil høykapasitets bro for katastrofe og redningstjenesten

Awarded: NOK 6.3 mill.

The DeHiGate project is aimed at the EUREKA - CELTIC family. The project will develop a deployable high bandwidth gateway for emergency services, accompanied with applications. The gateway will extend high capacity data communication through the use of ex isting radio technology. The deployable gateway will be used in addition to the low bandwidth voice and data systems already deployed by the emergency services. The foundation for the project is interaction with user communities, so the functional requir ement for the overall architecture and for the gateway itself is based on their needs. The usability of the concept will be demonstrated with trials aimed at the different user communities in the participating countries. The project will utilize and inter act with other existing European projects within the emergency services, such as the WIDENS project. The DeHiGate project will draw heavily on the established contact with the emergency user groups. The Norwegian participants have already worked closely w ith KoKom, and this project aims to try to continue that work. The European partners are from the Norway, Finland and Spain. Thales Norway has taken the role as project leader for the entire European consortium. Internationally, the consortium has close contact with the project MESA. Both Thales and Applica have contributed to the MESA standardization work. With participation of all the intended partners, the DehiGate will have access to technology such as TETRA systems (network and base stations), GSM/ GPRS/UMTS base stations, public telecom networks, satelite communications (SATCOM) etc. The project application has been awarded the Celtic label.
