There is a significant world-wide increased activity within the LNG business (Liquefied Natural Gas). Hence, there will be a high demand for construction of LNG import terminals around the world. At the same time, there is a strong public force against bu ilding these facilities onshore or near shore due to terrorist target, etc. This is in particular the situation in the US at the moment, but also in other countries like Italy, Spain, etc. Based on this, Remora Technology has over the last two years devel oped an Offshore LNG Import Terminal which is catching significant interest within the industry. In order to make the solution even more attractive to the oil and gas industry, Remora Technology plan to carry out a Model Test of the system at Marintek. T he objective with the project is to proof the marine aspects of the solution. There are a number of R & D challenges with the solution and testing of the marine aspects is seen as one of the most important one. This can be verified by a model test and R emora has selected to work with Marintek in Norway which is considered to have among the best expertise and model basin facilities World within this technology field. The Model test needs to be well planned and it is suggested to carry out a significant amount of theoretical calculations and simulations in advance as outlined in the project description. There is a significant potential for this LNG Terminal solution based on the numerous planned LNG Terminals around the world the next decade. The model test will therefore be an important and significant step for further commercialization of the solution. It should be noted that the LNG terminal will make use of seawater to heat and vaporize the LNG and not burn gas for heating as normal onshore termin al. This makes the solution very attractive from an environmentally point of view. The HiLoad LNG Regas Terminal was selected as the winner of the official Innovation Award at OTC in Houston in May 200
