Coherent quantum effects in many-particle systems

Awarded: NOK 2.1 mill.

This is a project in theoretical physics, aimed at studies of problems in modern quantum physics. It includes problems in quantum information theory, with focus on quantum entanglement, as well as problems in quantum many-particle physics more generally. The main focus will be on coherent quantum effects, with the emergence of new types of "exotic" quantum states. Low-dimensional systems, fractional statistics and fractional quantum numbers more generally are key words in this context. We are interested i n the general theory of such phenomena, with possible application to systems such as strongly rotating Bose condensates, quantum Hall states and carbon nanotubes.
