IEA-District Heating and Cooling Project, Annex VIII

Awarded: NOK 0.60 mill.

The main objective is to perform co-ordinate, goal-oriented research in co-operation between 10 IEA-Countries on the following selected projects: (1) Cost benefits and long term behaviour of a new all plastic piping system, (2) New materials and construc tions for improving the quality and lifetime of district heating pipes including joints - thermal, mechanical and environmental performance, (3) District Heating distribution in areas with low heat demand density, (4) Efficient secondary systems, (5) A ssessing the Actual Annual Energy Efficiency of Building-Scale Cooling Systems, (6) Improved co-generation and heat utilization in DH networks The mail goal of the whole project is to develop more feasible systems for water based District Heating and Co oling for heating and air conditioning of buildings, which is environmental friendly and who operate with high energy efficiency. The selected projects focuses partly on further technology development and cost effectiveness of distribution pipe systems; (1) and (2), and partly on development new technology for areas awith low heat demand density(3). Increasing the temperature effectiveness in buildings with water based heating and cooling systems is in focus in project (4). Project (5) is aiming to optim ice cooling systems, and in project (6) the goal is to optimice small scale combined heat and power systems in smaller district heating networks.
