Petrell AS has over a period of years developed a software package known as Brilliant. This software has been used for a number of applications like fluid flow, gas dispersion, fire, radiation, heat conduction, stress analysis, etc. The software handles p orous media as well as ordinary flow. Brilliant is built on an object structure philsophy. This gives several advantages compared to traditional reservoir and fluid flow packages: -The grid is freely located. One control volume can have several neightbou rs. The span in size of the control volumes can consequently be large. -Several models of physical phenomena can be applid for different areas simultaneously. All models interact with each other in a multi physics simulation. -Different timescales can b e used for different areas and mathematical models. -Included in a thermodynamic package for treatment of phase changes, flash calculation and material properties and a database for solid material properties is included. It is thougt, therefore that the B rilliant structure may be superior to most other models for the simulation of complex systems like a well inflow situation. Objective: To implement in Brilliant mathematical models used in reservoir simulation, and to build a multi physics demonstration case of a well in-flow zone. During the pre-study period we will contact and visit people dealing with reservoir simulation and production optimisation ensure focus on all relevant parameters. Finally we will write a report with reccomentations for how to proceed in a development project for this well in-flow simulation model.
