Games and simulations is one of the most promising areas in the domain of learning and infotainment and has already started to find use in industry and government-including business simulations as part of executive development. Recent conference activity in the United States and Europe, as well as numbers of books and professional publications dealing with G&S-based learning is evidence of increasing interest in these topics. *How can we explore and make business from recent development in the domain of games and simulations? *How can different players utilize this development to grow their own business? *How can G&S fuel R&D activities in the Stavanger region, more specific at UiS and a potential centre of excellence? Our finding will be use to form the starting point for R&D project in G&S. The pre-project/ study can bee seen as mapping and creating focus for potential R&D projects in the energy sector. G&S is an emerging technology within learning, specifically within the energy sector. The use of G&S based learning opens new potential for more efficient, secure and learner centric solutions. It also holds the potential of changing both how we learn and how learning is offered to employees in the industry. It also opens up for more effective as sessments of learning (?while doing?). The pre-project can contribute to: -Finding new areas of application of G&S based learning technology -Find better ways of conducting existing operations -Fuel innovation and production in the domain of G&S learnin g -Fuel R&D activities in the same domain. -Align effort in the Scandinavian region with international projects and best practices.
