Fish Breeders Round Table

Worldwide, fish selective breeding is a relatively new research discipline and industry, where the exchange of information between research and industry is rather limited. Norway is world leading in fish selective breeding and genetics both on the researc h and applied side. We would like to organize an international forum, where knowledge and experience is exchanged, for the fish breeding researchers and those involved in applied genetic improvement work on a commercial basis. We call the forum ?Fish Bree ders? Round Table?. In 2004, AKVAFORSK organised the first Fish Breeders? Round Table and we will arrange the next meeting in 2007. The two main topics for Fish Breeders? Round Table 2007 are: ?Use of molecular genetics in genetic improvement of aquacultu re species? and ?Selective breeding and welfare?.
