eSysbio - an e-science environment for systems biology

We propose to develop eSysbio - an e-science environment for supporting systems biology research - and use it to drive Norwegian research within this field. We will conduct research on Web service and semantic technology, and use the results to build a co llaborative virtual workspace that will facilitate the interdisciplinary exploitation of data, tools, and computational resources relevant for systems biology research. This proposal also includes two concrete systems biology research projects; one addres sing metabolism and growth in fish, and one studying adaptation and ecology of extremeophile microorganisms. These projects will provide feedback from users of the eSysbio environment that will be used to ensure that the research and systems development f ocuses on issues of relevance and importance in real applications.
