The scientific content and work in the project will be based on the commercially available self-adhesive plaster SOFT 1 of Snøgg Industri AS. SOFT 1 is unique in the way that it breathes and it does not stick to skin or hair but only to itself. It is used , mainly in industry, as a wound plaster, in first aid and by vets. The production of SOFT 1 is by itself a unique process based on in-house knowledge of Snøgg Industri AS. The project aims to apply nanotechnology to build in multifunctionality in the c ommercially availible SOFT 1 product. This is believed to be realized through application of various electrospun-/fibrillar nanosized webs with built-in functionality. This will increase value creation and turnover for the applicant Snøgg Industri AS, t hrough entering several new market segments. In this way, the project will be a contribution to a further transition of Snøgg AS towards a knowledge-based, highly innovative and value adding oriented company, which is important in order to maintain its so cietal impact with respect to value creation and employment. The overall aim of the project (both pre-project and the main project) is to develop an innovative and sustainable multifunctional depot plaster for wound healing and medical filter aplication s. To our knowledge, the specific nanocoating technology and approach applied in this project is not covered or reported elsewhere. The project will bring new scientific knowledge in several areas, involving a fundamental understanding of nanocoatings inf luinfluence on critical desired properties (blood stopping abilities, self-adhesion, etc.).
