Integrating Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) and optical data for forest inventory, Utenlandsstipend

Awarded: NOK 0.14 mill.

This proposal concerns the visit at the Canadian Forest Service -Pacific Forestry Center (CFS-PFC), BC, Canada (CFS-PFC) for Ph.D. student Hans Ole Ørka. The visit at CFS-PFC is an integrated part of Hans Ole Ørka?s Ph.D. project. He will accomplish resea rch tasks on integrating remote sensing data sources, i.e., airborne laser scanning and optical data for inventory of forest resources, in collaboration with the Forest Geomatics research group at CFS-PFC. The Forest Geomatics research group, lead by Dr. Michael Wulder, possesses high level competence in the area of using optical remote sensing for forest inventory. The proposed studies will be documented in two publications in international peer-review journals. A research visit for 6 months, i.e., from 1 April to 30 September, 2009, is planned.
