Water, a global challenge of the 21st.century

Awarded: NOK 39,999

Project Manager:

Project Number:

202667

Project Period:

2010 - 2010

Subject Fields:

Water is a global challenge of the 21st century, both in terms of available resources management as well as the world's population access to drinking water and sanitation. We are facing the need to ensure water quality by using technical systems, and thus a basic requirement of life for today's civilization is becoming a treatment, transport, heating and water purification. I decided to extent my research and study not only my major field, especially quality of drinking water, but also to concentrate on a wide range of stormwater uses collected in the household that contributes to significant cost savings in drinking water. The primary aim of my project is to present my research focused on theoretical and experimental analysis of hot water distribution sys tems from the point of view of microbiological risk on the basis of confrontation between the theoretical analysis and synthesis of gathered information in conditions of the Slovak Republic and under supervision of Supervisor compare with the current Norw egian results. One of the most significant outcomes is a Simulation model that could be used for similar types of water heater tanks in Norwegian conditions. The secondary goal is to observe methods for stormwater management with or without constructions, including planning, projecting and analyzing of stormwater facilities and urban-hydrological data collection. Participation in courses offered by the host department will help me to learn more about stormwater management methods as well as study technolo gies, regulations and standards used in Norway. Visiting laboratories and getting acquainted with running projects and experiments will enhance my knowledge and experience. Whats more, studying Norwegian language will enable me to work in NTNU community. A highly qualified university environment predicts a successful outcome of my stay.
