SET2-IEA: IEA-ECBCS project proposal - Reliable Performance Analysis and Prediction based on Full Scale Measurements

Awarded: NOK 99,999

Utdrag fra invitasjon til deltakelse ved første workshop (prosjektleder ved SINTEF Byggforsk vil holde innlegg ved workshop tilknyttet nedenstående nevnte møte): Possible new annex entitled "Reliable performance analysis and prediction based on full scal e measurements". The idea of this new Annex resulted from the fact that, contrary to what was expected, the dynamic building component and building energy simulation programs did not make full scale testing of building components irrelevant. On the contra ry, together with an increased application of numerical simulations, a renewed growing interest in full scale testing can be observed. This is not so strange, because full scale testing is not only interesting to study building (component) performances un der different real conditions - and quite often a huge difference is observed between predicted and realised performances - , it is also a valuable and necessary tool to validate simulation models. This way it can be ensured that the behaviour of (new and often highly insulated) components is integrated in a correct way in the numerical analysis. Scope of the brainstorm is to define the global objectives, different subtasks and deliverables of a possible IEA ECBCS Annex-project on full scale testing, dat a analysis and modelling. The idea is to incorporate the different levels of full scale testing: 1) laboratory facilities such as hot box - cold box facilities, 2) outdoor test cells such as the PASLINK-cells and 3) full scale building tests. A major aim of the Annex-project is a collaboration in the ECBCS-context to develop common quality procedures for full scale testing to come to a reliable performance analysis and prediction. The procedures should focus both on the test environment and experimental s etup as well as on the data analysis and performance prediction.
