MSH: Border Novels by Marguerite Duras

A comparative study of the notes and the manuscripts for three novels by Marguerite Duras: Un Barrage contre le Pacifique (1950), L?Amant (1984) and L?Amant de la Chine du Nord (1991). The project will be based on studies of notes and manuscripts kept at IMEC (Institut Mémoire de l'Edition Contemporaine) in Normandie, where I shall be doing researh work from the 4th to the 15th of April this year. I shall need to visit IMEC again and La Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris during some weeks in June/July to be able to complete this study, which will be presented at a conference in Istanbul in October this year, and published as a scientific article, with the prelimanary title "Borders Novels by Marguerite Duras". I shall study these novels from a generical ly based approchec, with Mikhaîl Bakhtin as the main theoretical reference, especially his essay on "Formes of Time and chronotopes in the novel". The conference in Istanbul is arranged by the research group "The Borders of Europe" at the Faculty of Huma nities, University of Bergen, where I am a leading member.
