Project description The objective of the Medical White Board project is to meet the challenges of how doctors work at hospitals by developing extreme user-friendly interface for the planning & follow - up function and for communication during the patient treatment processes. By use of big touch screens the Medical White Board will provide the health professionals facilities for common decisions during the meeting processes at hospitals. The doctors, still in great extent, organize the patients treatmen t manually, the working conditions are normally based on common meetings where the; what, how, when and who is decided with normally no ICT support. Medical White Board will provide tool to the hospitals in similar way as it has been used commonly in the industry, an operation center to give full overview, planning and re-scheduling support. The interaction with the system is performed by accessing touch screens using fingertips, as if doctors were making decisions standing besides ordinary white board as they do today, but with all the advantages of fast information access, automatic calculation. The Medical White Board will display graphical representation of the treatment plan, allowing easy access to patient related information, evaluation of the consequences of re-planning, as well as allowing automatic calculation of most efficient plan. The solution will also generate outline treatment pathways and answers for what if analyses, rescheduling, etc. by hyper fast algorithm and intuitive advanced g raphics. One example of what if analysis is when a new situation occurs and changes to the patients plans is required. Efficient ICT planning and scheduling systems currently used in industry for decision support has not yet penetrated the healthcare se ctor. Planning processes in health care are very complex, often highly coupled across and along, organizational levels (operational, tactical and strategic) and clinical pathways.
