Dynamic Multi-layer Resource Pooling for Smart Applications in the Future Internet

The Dynamo project aims at providing access to different available data transport resources independent of the underlying transport system and selecting the best resources for concurrent use. Thus, it allows the collection of multiple transport resources from different network technologies and providers and the combination of single transport resources to a pooled transport resource. The use of such a concurrent multipath data transmission brings exceptional advantages for the service providers and end us ers such as higher throughput and increased resilience. Due to the independence from the transmission technology it also allows for a faster acceptance of new technologies. The objectives of the Dynamo project are to provide higher capacities for service providers and end users through the flexible, concurrent use of available transport resources. This includes the continuous monitoring of the available resources, the selection of appropriate resources out of the currently available resources and the opt imization of the multipath transmission with respect to the selected transport resource characteristics and the service requirements. Thus, the project aims at a more flexible and more efficient usage of available transport resources.
