ReShip - Renewable wood-based biofuels for shipping - Fornybart trebasert biodrivstoff til shipping

Alternative title: null

Awarded: NOK 12.0 mill.

The ENERGIX project 228754 ReShip - Renewable wood-based biofuels for shipping aims at developing technology for producing a sustainable, cost-competitive fuel quality from wood feedstocks which meets the performance requirements of marine diesel engines. The ReShip project is based on an innovative concept for developing a new multicomponent marine fuel quality based on upgraded fast pyrolysis bio-oils. Project partners in ReShip have been RISE PFI, Aston University, NTNU, Siva Green Fuel, Treklyngen and AT Skog. In addition have Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, Solvang Shipping and Rolls Royce Marine participated in a reference group of end users. The project has been led by RISE PFI, a leading actor in fast pyrolysis technology in Norway. Important project innovations are an upgrading process for converting pyrolysis liquids into storage stable pyrolysis oil quality with low corrosiveness and pyrolysis oil based multicomponent fuel blends in marine gas oil with favourable fuel properties relative to existing fuel standards for marine diesel engines. Within the project period, wo post doc students have been educated in the project and ten conference papers or article manuscripts have been prepared. The project partners aim to take project innovations further in user owned innovations projects to develop the technology further and hopefully implement production and use of biobased transportation fuel in Norway based on fast pyrolysis technology. ReShip - Renewable wood-based biofuels for shipping - Fornybart biodrivstoff fra trevirke The ReShip project aims at developing technology for producing a sustainable, cost-competitive biofuel quality from wood feedstocks which meets the performance requ irements of marine diesel engines. The project is based on an innovative approach for producing partly upgraded, storage stable and sulphur free bio-oils using fast pyrolysis technology. In shipping there is a particular need to develop low-sulphur fuel a lternatives due to upcoming regulations for sulphur emissions in defined sulphur emissions control areas.
