Kongsberg Digital, Renewables & Utilities is currently developing a Wind Farm Decision Support system, Kongsberg EmPower. The system includes modules for Condition Monitoring, Production Forecasting and Wind Farm Control. In addition, various tools are being developed to provide integrated present ation and improved operation support for wind farms. Kongsberg aims at entering international markets with this new product line for wind farm management. The overall objective of is to improve the operational efficiency of wind farms, through increased producti on and lowered operational costs, giving an increased revenue of 5-8%. The markets are both existing and new wind farms, off shore, at shore and on shore. The results of the KonWake project will be part of the wind farm management system. The objective of the project is to develop a computationally efficient model for wind and wake propagation through wind farm. The model will capture complex phenomena such as wave/wind interaction and influence of complex terrain, and will provide more accurate predictio ns of wind and wake conditions within the park. The aim is also to integrate the model with the Wind Farm Controller, the forecasting tool and also use it as a basis for development of other operation support applications.
