The envisaged project targets the SME instrument phase I call NMP-25-2014-1 for 'Accelerating the uptake of nanotechnologies, advanced materials or advanced manufacturing and processing technologies by SMEs'. The overall vision of the project is to introd uce an innovative and fully automated environmentally friendly paintbrush cleaner. The project is responding to the growing demand for compact and environmentally sound solutions in the paint and construction industries to reduce waste generation and limi t the use of volatile organic solvents (VOCs). There is a growing market for environmentally sound cleaning technologies across the European Union. The directives covering paints and painting products, primarily the Industrial Emission (2010/75/EU), Solve nt Emissions (1999/13/EU) and Paint Products (2004/42/EC) Directives, have instituted increasingly strict emissions standards for both paint products and the waste generated in their use. The project is a prime CleanTech candidate to meet this need for pr oducts that both reduce waste generation and resource usage. The project is at the concept stage and represents a high-risk investment for C-SOL in economic, resource and structural terms. We therefore wish to conduct a detailed feasibility study of the technological and commercial viability of the concept through phase I of the Horizon 2020 SME-Instrument before we proceed to full development, demonstration and commercialisation - with a view to proceed to a phase II submission to the SME instrument. Th e focus of the Feasibility Study will be market analysis, formulation of the detailed business plan and IPR analysis but the study also contains steps for analysis and development of the product design since deeper knowledge is required for accurate estim ates of e.g. production and running costs or detailed IPR and patent analysis.
