ADvanced catalytic REactors for process industries

The aim in this project is to produce advanced reformer technology, like oxygen permeable membrane materials with improved efficiency in the use of resources and performance. The project intends to focus on syngas production by intensified catalytic react ors from 3 different sources. Three different reactors will be considered with various advantages regarding reduction in process energy intensity and emissions: 1) HEX reactor for RWGS? with more compact reactor operating at lower temperature 2) Membrane reactor for methane reforming, which avoids the H2 separation step and allows higher conversion rate at lower temperature 3) Oxygen permeable membrane reactor for catalytic partial oxidation, which avoids the need of oxygen plant and operates at lower t emperature. This process also leads to the replacement of fossil fuels and improvement of steel manufacturing process. The project will focus on both experimental and modelling inputs to improve the processes.
