Holocene history of Svalbard ice caps and glaciers: geomorphological mapping of the forefield of Nordenskiöldbreen, RiS ID 10122

A better understanding of the Svalbard glaciers advance and retreat during the Holocene can be used as an analogue for a warming climate. A holistic approach will be taken focusing on Nordenskiöldbreen, Billefjorden, where surveys of high-resolution swath bathymetry and terrestrial archives will result in a geomorpholocial map with an according landsystem model. The geomorphological map will be created in ArcGIS software on the background of analysis of aerial image, high-resolution swath bathymetry from the fjord and terrestrial field work. Ground verification of the map and survey of the field will be carried out in July 2015.
